Warehouses

A warehouse is a physical location with its own stock, its own currency and timezone, and its own idea of how work gets done. Requires warehouse:manage.

The warehouse form is long because almost every operational behaviour in MPH is a per-warehouse decision. It is organised into collapsible sections.

Basic information

Name, code, and company name used on carrier labels - which is what the recipient sees as the sender, so set it to the trading name your customers recognise.

Address

Contact

Contact name, email, phone and VAT number. The VAT number appears on customs paperwork.

Status

Active or inactive. An inactive warehouse holds its stock but is not offered for new work.

Localization

Currency and timezone for this site. A warehouse in another country reports in its own currency and closes its day at its own midnight.

Fulfillment flows

Which of the three fulfilment actions this warehouse offers, and which is the default action:

• Create pick list - zone-split pick lists, packed later from the shared queue
• Pick - pick now, pack later
• Pick and Pack - one pass

Selecting several orders across warehouses offers only the actions all of them share, so keep flows consistent between sites you pick together.

Scanning

The scan steps operators must complete, configured separately for picking and for packing. There are two steps, Location and Item, each of which can be off, optional or required, and they can be dragged into order.

• Optional records the scan if it happens but does not block.
• Required blocks submitting a line that was not scanned: <sku>: item scan still required.

Required scanning is what turns picking from "recorded" into "verified". Introduce it once operators are comfortable with the flow, not on day one.

Picking

• Auto-complete lines - a scan that satisfies a line closes it without a further tap.
• Always show pick summary - keep the per-order result dialog even when everything booked cleanly. Off means a clean batch just toasts and moves on.

Receiving

• Pre-fill received quantity - goods receipt lines start at the outstanding quantity rather than 0. On for trusted suppliers, off when you want everything counted in.
• Print labels by default - tick the label option on receipts automatically.
• Update supplier price on receiving - write back what you actually paid to the supplier's price for the item.

Shipping

• Use combined article weight - add up the weights of the items in the parcel.
• Use bundle's own weight - for a bundle, use the bundle's weight rather than the sum of its components.
• Pickup / manual label format - A4 or label stock, with a custom size in millimetres. This is what stops A4 paperwork crawling out of a label printer at a packstation.
• Freight cost confirmation - always confirm the cost before booking, only confirm on a low wallet balance, or never.
• Require manual customs handling - see below.

Blocking customs packing

With Require manual customs handling on, an order on a customs route can only be Picked. Pick and Pack, Pack and Quick Ship are all blocked for it, and the block is enforced on the server rather than just hidden in the UI.

Ship those orders manually through Create fulfilment → Create shipment, where you can review the customs data before committing. Use this when a mistake on a customs declaration is expensive enough to be worth the extra step.

Sales invoices

• Create invoice for each fulfilment
• Email invoice automatically, with from name and address, reply-to, BCC and a fallback language for customers whose language you do not know

Multiple warehouses

Stock, costs, settings and sequences are per warehouse. Users get a personal default warehouse under Settings → Account, and most list pages have a warehouse filter.

Adding a warehouse does not move any stock. Move stock deliberately, with a transfer.
