Add your own carrier agreement to MPH WMS
A carrier configuration is one carrier account as MPH knows it: which carrier, which credentials, and how shipments booked through it behave.
Requires carriers:manage. Reading needs carriers:read.
Own agreement or MPH standard agreement
A configuration is backed by one of two things, and it matters:

You can run both side by side - for example your own DHL agreement for volume, and an MPH agreement for the carriers you ship too little with to negotiate your own rates.

Adding your own carrier agreement
- Go to Settings → Carriers and shipping → Configurations.
- Click Add config.
- Choose the carrier.
- Give the config a name. This is what packers see, so name it for what it is:
DHL Production,PostNord Returns,Bring Test. - Fill in the credentials. The fields change per carrier - the form asks for exactly what that carrier needs.
- Set Status: Active, and Default config if this is the one to fall back on.
- Save, then book a test shipment to confirm the credentials work.
Credentials by carrier

Get these from the carrier, not from MPH. They come from your account manager or the carrier's developer portal, and they are tied to the agreement you signed.
Credentials are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and are never shown back to you. A saved secret displays as a masked placeholder; to change it, type a new value. If you lose a key, reissue it with the carrier - it cannot be recovered from MPH.
Test mode
Most carriers offer a test or sandbox environment, switched on with Test mode in the config. Bookings go to the carrier's test system and the labels produced are not valid for shipping. Use it to prove credentials and service codes work, then switch it off. A config left in test mode that quietly produces unusable labels is a bad morning.
Calculate freight prices
Own-agreement configs have an optional Calculate freight prices toggle. With it on, MPH asks the carrier what a shipment would cost and shows you an estimate before booking.
- It is an estimate, not a charge. The carrier still invoices you directly under your own agreement, and your wallet is untouched.
- It only works where the carrier supports quoting. Today that is DHL, which additionally needs the e-ID credentials and DHL enabling the quoting API for your account.
Contract-backed configs do not show this toggle, because they always show the real price you will be charged.
Customs documents
Default recipients takes a comma-separated list of email addresses, for example customs@forwarder.com, broker@example.com. These are pre-filled whenever you email customs documents from a shipment or a bulk shipment, so nobody has to remember the forwarder's address at 16:55 on a Friday.
Several configs for one carrier
This is normal and useful:
- Production and test side by side
- Different accounts for different warehouses or legal entities
- A dedicated returns config where returns run on a different account
Mark one as Default config. Shipping templates then pin specific configs where you need something other than the default.
Deactivating
Setting a config inactive stops it being offered for new bookings. Existing shipments keep their labels and tracking - deactivating a config never touches parcels already in the network.
