Print templates
Design item labels, pick lists, invoices and purchase orders
Every document MPH prints comes from a template you can redesign. Settings → Print templates.
Template types
| Type | Used for |
|---|---|
| Item label | Product and shelf labels. See Labels |
| Location label | Labels for pick locations |
| Pick list | The picking sheet, single or batch |
| Invoice | Sales invoices from a fulfilment |
| Purchase order | The PO PDF sent to suppliers |
Tabs across the top separate them: All, Item labels, Pick lists, Invoices, Purchase orders.
General and warehouse-specific
A template is either general (the whole organization) or tied to one warehouse. A warehouse-specific active template overrides the general one for that site.
There can be only one active template per type per warehouse. Activating a second one for the same type and warehouse deactivates the first. This is deliberate - it means there is never any ambiguity about which layout a document will use.
Use this to give a site with different label stock its own layout, or to run a second legal entity's invoice design from the same account.
Designing
Label templates and A4 documents have different designers, but share the same ideas:
- Build the document from rows of fields, dragged into place
- Insert values from a token menu rather than typing them
- Set per-field font size, bold, alignment and wrapping
- Upload a logo
- Set page size and margins
A4 documents (pick lists, invoices, purchase orders) add a header block editor and a column editor for the line table. Item labels add barcode settings - format CODE128, EAN13 or CODE39, which field the barcode is generated from, and whether the value is printed underneath.
Language
A template carries a language, which is what makes localised invoices possible. A warehouse also has a fallback language for customers whose language you do not know. See Warehouses.
Practical advice
- Print a real one before going live. A layout that looks right on screen can clip on 50 × 30 mm stock.
- Put the barcode where the scanner looks. On a pick list that means the same place on every page.
- Keep the pick list sparse. Location, SKU, name, quantity. Everything else is noise to someone walking with a trolley.
