User groups

Group members and pin shared shortcuts to their sidebar

A user group collects members together and gives them a shared set of sidebar shortcuts.

Requires team:groups, which is not included in the admin role by default.

Creating a group

Settings → User groups → New group, name it after the job rather than the people - Packers, Receiving, Customer service - and add members.

Group pins

The point of a group is its pins. Pin a page or a saved view to a group and it appears in the sidebar of everyone in it, above the main navigation.

Group pins cannot be removed by the user. That is intentional: it is how you guarantee everyone on a shift is looking at the same queue, rather than each person building their own filter and quietly working a different list.

What to pin

  • A saved view of orders ready to ship in this warehouse, for packers
  • The pack queue itself
  • Replenishment, for whoever places orders
  • A dashboard with the numbers the shift is measured on

Groups and permissions

Groups control shortcuts, not access. Being in a group does not grant a permission, and pinning a page to a group does not let anyone open a page their permissions do not allow - the pin simply will not appear for them. Access lives in Team.
