Dashboards

Build and share your own report views

Dashboards are for the questions that are specific to your operation. Where the report library gives you fixed answers, a dashboard lets you assemble your own.

Creating one

Go to Reports → Dashboards and create a dashboard, then add panels to it with the builder. A panel is a measure, a way of grouping it and a way of drawing it - for example revenue by warehouse per week as a bar chart.

Save the dashboard and it appears under Dashboards for anyone with reports:read.

Editing

Open a dashboard and use Edit to add, remove or rearrange panels. The builder is also reachable directly when you want to work on a single panel before committing it to a dashboard.

Pinning

A dashboard can be pinned to your sidebar like any other page, and a user group can pin one for everybody in it. That is how you put "yesterday's numbers" in front of a team without anyone having to go looking. See User groups.

Practical advice

  • Build one dashboard per audience, not per metric. The warehouse manager and the finance side want different things on screen.
  • Keep panel counts low. A dashboard nobody reads because it takes thirty seconds to parse is worse than no dashboard.
  • Prefer rates and averages over raw totals when comparing periods of different lengths.
