Receive return

The returns bench, as a single scanner-first screen. Scan the parcel, record what is in it, decide what goes back on the shelf.

Requires returns:receive.

Step 1 - find the return

Scan or type any of:

• the carrier tracking number
• the package id
• the order number
• the return number

Which is to say: whatever is legible on the parcel.

Step 2 - record what came back

The header shows the return number, the order, the customer and the current status, with a Change button to switch parcels.

For each line you see expected, already received and outstanding, and you enter two numbers:

Anything you do not enter stays outstanding, so a return that arrives in two parcels can be received twice.

There is a Print labels option per line, for goods that came back without a readable label, and a free-text notes field for the condition of the return.

Two buttons, two different things

The footer shows how many units you are about to process, and offers:

• Register arrived - marks the parcel as physically here without restocking anything. Use it when the parcel has landed but nobody has time to inspect the contents yet. The return moves to status Arrived.
• Process and restock - applies the restockable and damaged quantities. Restockable units re-enter stock and a movement is written for them.

Splitting these two is the point of the screen. The warehouse can log arrivals at the speed parcels come off the van, and inspect them later, without the customer service side losing track of what has turned up.

Refunds

Receiving a return does not refund the customer, and MPH does not read the refund state back from your sales channel. The refund flag on a return is set by hand in the WMS, so it reflects what your finance side has actually done. See Returns.
