Manage your product catalog and inventory
Items are the core of your warehouse. Each item is a single product with one SKU - there are no variants in MPH WMS. If a product comes in several sizes or colours, each variation is its own item with its own SKU.
Key concepts
- SKU - the unique identifier for the item. Can be auto-generated from a number series set under Settings → General.
- Barcodes - an item can carry several. Any of them will match when scanning.
- Tags - free-text labels stored on the item itself, used for filtering and for scoping stock counts.
- Pick locations - where the item lives on the shelf, per warehouse. The first one in a warehouse is its primary location and is what pick lists sort by.
- Tax rate - the VAT percentage used on sales order lines.
- Reorder point and safety stock days - feed the replenishment suggestions.
- Bundle - an item assembled from other items at pick time. See Bundles.
Stock valuation
Stock is valued FIFO per batch. Each stock record carries the unit cost of the batch it came from, and a movement snapshots the cost of the units it actually consumed. There is no single "average cost" field on an item - what an item is worth depends on which batches are still on the shelf.
