The built-in carrier for local pickup and for shipping before you have a carrier account
Every account gets a Manual / Pickup carrier automatically. It needs no credentials and no agreement, because it does not talk to a carrier at all.
What it does
Booking a manual shipment produces an internal slip - a document numbered SLIP-... and rendered as a PDF by MPH itself. There is no waybill, no tracking number and no carrier collection. The parcel is handed over in person, or taken to a carrier counter by someone who buys the postage there.
When to use it
- Local pickup. The customer collects. The slip is the packing note.
- Walk-in postage. Someone takes parcels to a service point and pays over the counter.
- Internal transfers and samples, where you want the fulfilment recorded but no carrier involved.
- Rehearsal. Before you have any carrier set up, manual shipments let you walk the whole flow - pick, pack, book, print - and see how the system behaves.
Manual is a rehearsal, not a shipping setup. It gives you no tracking, no proof of delivery and no claims cover. The setup checklist deliberately does not count it as having set up shipping - you need a real carrier configuration or an MPH standard agreement for that.
Paper size
Manual and pickup labels are a per-warehouse setting: A4 for an office laser printer, or label stock for a packstation with a label roll. Set it under Warehouses.
Getting this wrong is a common annoyance - A4 paperwork crawling out of a label printer - and it is a one-field fix.
